Throughout the history of humanity, different philosophies have been developed about the relationship between men and nature; Permaculture is one of these proposals for the inhabitants of this planet to establish a relationship of respect and sustainability of the environment.

Permaculture proposes an integrated system in which people get in touch with geodiversity, biodiversity, the sustainability of the environment and the harmony that this offers.

In the 70s of the XNUMXth century, when the negative effects of the Green Revolution were questioned; Australians Bill Mollison and David Holmgreen from the School of Environmental Design in Hobart / Tasmania, propose a solution by seeing that soil and water contamination reduced the biodiversity.

They spoke out for sustainable practices in agriculture, and coined the term permaculture that is derived from the English words permanent agriculture (permanent agriculture).

The idea of adopting sustainable practices and promoting sustainable development quickly permeated Australia, the United States and Europe; This interest favored the transformation and enrichment of this current in which the ancestral agricultural cosmogony was retaken.

Today it is a lifestyle where those who practice it do not waste resources and as far as possible they return what they use; Therefore, they reduce their consumption of energy and services, avoiding generating garbage, using new clean energies efficiently and are responsible for seeking harmony on a material and spiritual plane.

The principles of permaculture are to have stable agricultural systems that take into account the natural ecosystem, taking advantage of the rain water, the quality of the land, native plants, local animals and other factors to avoid environmental degeneration. It is the adaptation of agro-industrial methods to available resources and always focused on long-term sustainable development.

In Mexico, Carlos Caballero is considered one of the pioneers of this system, with which he received the National Forest Merit Award in the 90s; Descendants of Caballero allowed the consolidation of this philosophy in the country that seeks to transform people so that they stop being unconscious consumers and understand that they are part of a natural system that works in a continuous cycle.

In Tlaxcala, Veracruz and Michoacán are some of the places where communities are organized under these ideas and in the face of contemporary events they are presented as an option for inhabitants of cities or rural areas to maintain a balanced relationship with the environment.
