The snack or snacks for your children is always a headache.
Preventing them from buying and eating unhealthy snacks should be your goal. Why not make your children part of the menu selection and its preparation?
Yes, nutrition education begins with you. And preparing the weekly lunch menu can be done by incorporating your children not only so that they learn to decide on their own diet, but also so that they learn from your own hand what is healthy for them.
Granola is one of the simplest things to prepare at home, and its content is as varied as you want it to be.
Homemade granola recipe
Ingredients
1 cup whole oats
1 cup of almonds
1 cup of peanuts (or peanuts)
1 cup of dried fruit chopped into very small pieces (I'm a fan of dried cranberries)
1 cup of raisins (you can make it with blackberries, blueberries, etc)
1/2 cup of grated coconut.
1 cup of agave honey or brown sugar
1/2 cup coconut oil.
Preparation
Mix all the dry ingredients in a container and stir them evenly.
Then melt the coconut oil and pour it on top of the dry ingredients along with the agave syrup (or you can use honey as well).
Stir until smooth. The oil and honey will be what makes the other ingredients come together in the oven, so make sure the mixture is well moistened with them.
After your oven has reached 350 degrees F. Place your mixture on a baking sheet, and distribute the mixture evenly throughout it.
Once you have put it in the oven, try to stir the mixture every 15 minutes so that all the ingredients are toasted evenly, until you reach 45 minutes.
When finished, remove it from the oven, let it rest and separate into portions.
They are ideal for a snack in the office, or as a healthy snack for your children's lunch, with the same or more protein than meat. Enjoy, and as a purpose of the new school year teach your children to eat well from now on!
